Four women golfers based in the UK were passed by all Americans at the WGCA

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. While the Kentucky women’s golf team broke the glass ceiling this season in its first NCAA Championship final since 1992, it also took care of business in the classroom.

Four wild cats older Rikke Svejgård Nielsen, sophomores Jensen Castle and Marissa Wenzler, and freshman Laney Frye was selected on Tuesday in the All-American Scholar Team of the Women’s Golf Coaching Association on Tuesday 2020-21. It is the third straight year in which the UK has placed at least four wild cats on the WGCA’s All-American Scholar list, and the UK has collected a total of 13 decorations over the past three seasons.

More than 1,400 women’s college golfers in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III were honored. It is the third straight year. Svejgård Nielsen has been named the WGCA All-American Scholar and the second live season for Castle and Wenzler.

All four medals were honors that reached the UK’s first NCAA Championship finals in 29 years.

Among all the requirements for the appointment of all American researchers at the WGCA, a student-athlete must have an average of at least 3.50 points throughout his or her college degree, be of high moral character, and play 50 percent of the college’s regular competition rounds during the term.

Kentucky reported an average of 3,679 grades in the spring semester, which was among the highest scores in the UK. All 10 wild cats on the 2020-21 list received the Academic Honor Roll of the Southeast Conference.

Svejgård Nielsen enjoyed the decorated older season. She was named the SEC’s Women’s Golf Scientist of the Year in April and became the third UK women’s golfer in school history to win the award and the first since 2009. Svejgård Nielsen has excelled in majoring in agriculture, although he has a second language. and medical biotechnology, with an average of 3,711. Recently picked from a neuroscience minor, he is a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and has made a dean’s list six times.

On the course, Svejgård Nielsen played his best golf on the field to ignite the UK post-season run. He finished in the top 20 of the last five tournaments in the 54-hole bottom four straight tournaments of the season before the NCAA Championship final.

Castle has a 3,605 cumulative GPA in his two-year UK career while getting to one of the best starts of the program ever. He reported school history as the fifth best single-season average freshman and was a key part of Kentucky’s historic season from 2020-21, delivering 30 of his 33 points to the team’s total. Last month, she played in the U.S. Women’s Open and last week won the Carolinas four-ball championship with Wake Forest’s Rachel Keuhn for a second straight season.

Castle is working on a degree in management and did the SEC Academic Honor Roll series for the first time this season.

Wenzler is a double SEC Academic Honor Roll member and has appeared on the dean’s list for three semesters. In the financial industry, Wenzler has a GPA of 3,758 for the first two years at the university.

Ohio, Centerville, a rising sophomore Wenzler was Britain’s second-best ranked national championship in Scottsdale, Arizona. He played in 10 tournaments in 2020-21

Frye enjoyed a sensational freshman season on and off the field. In class, he released a full 4.0 GPA while researching which major he intends to pursue. Frye earned the SEC’s academic first year badge this spring and both semesters on the dean’s list.

In his first season at college golf, Frye released one of the best scoring averages in school history at 73.5 strokes per round. On the way to the SEC All-Freshman Team Awards, Frye led the Wildcats on average, the top ten goals (two), the top two performances (three) and a couple or better rounds (13). His 13 doubles or better is the second largest season in school history.
