A tennis mixer is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Glenwood Springs Community Center tennis courts.
Eating, drinking and playing tennis is a free event and does not require an already established tennis partner. Participants are encouraged to bring Mimosas or Bloody Marys and be prepared for fun.
Participants can also bring their own food to the event. The community center has a barbecue for those who want to prepare grilled delicacies.
The event is scheduled from 5pm to 9pm on Friday and will then begin again at 8am on Saturday. The women’s singles will be played from 8-11 p.m. Saturday, followed by the men’s singles from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Glenwood Springs Recreation Department tennis instructor Sue Geist said some people may be nervous about coming to an event if they’re new to the community or if they don’t have a partner, but you can be sure they want to pair up randomly.
What I’m really trying to do at this event is get people from outside the community to come to the event to meet regular tennis courts or maybe take an interest in some (Glenwood Recreation Department) regular tennis programs, Geist said.
