Novak Djokovic to Wimbledon 7th Final, Ashleigh Barty to 2nd Grand Slam Final

Novak Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini formed the men’s singles final at Wimbledon, while in the women’s raffle, Ashleigh Barty and Karolina Pliskova reserved their seats in the championship match.

With Djokovic beating Denis Shapovalov 7-6 (3), 7-5, 7-5, it is in his seventh Wimbledon final, making him the second most finals among men in the open era (since 1968) with Pete Sampras. and Boris Becker. Only Roger Federer (12) has more Wimbledon finals.

Djokovic is also in his 30th Grand Slam final, the second highest in men’s tennis history after Federer (31) and ahead of Rafael Nadal (28).

Berrettini has beaten Hubert Hurkacz 6-3, 6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-4 and is the first Italian player, male or female, to reach the Wimbledon singles final. He is the first Italian man to reach the Grand Slam corporate final after Adriano Panatta in the 1976 French Open.

This is Barty’s second career Grand Slam final, the first coming in the 2019 French Open, which he won.

Pliskova’s victory over Sabalenka is her second career victory against WTA Top-5 player in Grand Slam. The first was No. 1 against Serena in the 2016 US Open semifinals. This victory took him to his first grand final and he is now in his second Grand Slam final.

Pliskova now has 59 Grand Slam wins since the start of the 2016 US Open. It is the second most such victory for women in this area after Serena 61.
