Right Defender: Kyle Walker (England)

Walker was rarely given a license to point out the attacker, but he had a strong presence in the defense and his versatility allowed England to switch smoothly between formations. Denzel Dumfries was sensational for Holland in the group stage and was also influenced by Denmarks Jens Stryger Larsen, but Walker only ousted Italy’s unlikely star Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Midfield: Leonardo Bonucci (Italy)

The quickest to react was when he made the Italys draw in the final and completed a defensive masterclass against Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane. The 34-year-old enjoyed Wembley’s post-match winning round and told England supporters who were left to eat more pasta and ended up participating in four clean sheets and made score wins in the semi-finals and final.

Midfield: Giorgio Chiellini (Italy)

If anything, the 36-year-old seems to get better with age. Led his team to victory sometimes by mere blood blindness – just ask Buyako Saka. Harry Maguire deserves credit for his performances being injured in the tournament, and Simon Kjr was the inspiring director in Denmark. But the captain of this team just has to be Chiellini.

Left: Luke Shaw (England)

The Manchester United defender, left from the opening game of Kieran Trippier against Croatia, was excellent in both places he was asked to play and started and finished England’s brilliant goal in the final, giving three assists. Leonardo Spinazzola was another strong competitor before his tournament brutally cut the injury in Italys ’semi-final victory in Belgium, and Joakim Mhle brought a new dimension to the Danish offensive game.

Midfield: Pedri (Spain)

The 18-year-old picked up the Barcelona form on the international stage and ended up in the Best Young Player award after completing an amazing 429,465 passes he tried in six matches, a success rate of 92%. Managing the Italian midfield, which includes Marco Verratt and Nicol Barella, requires some work to be done, and Pedri seems likely to be at the heart of the Spains team for many years to come.

Midfield: Jorginho (Italy)

He was lucky not to be sent to the finals due to a terrible challenge to Jack Grealish, and he lost the chance to win a shooting match, but Jorginho has been an excellent deep midfielder in tournaments. Declan Rice did well, but tried to keep up the hard work for 90 minutes, and Sergio Busquets looked back to his best to suffer from Covid. However, Jorginho, the tenth player to win the Champions League and the Euro in the same season, dictated Italy to play perfectly.

Midfield: Kalvin Phillips (England)

An indication of the growing importance of Leeds midfielders to Gareth Southgate as the tournament progressed was that she remained involved for every minute of the semi-finals and finals. Forward: Raheem Sterling (England)

England’s most capped player Euro 2020 came to the tournament with many questioning his place, but ended it with three goals and a late acknowledgment of his importance. He remains unpopular with some Danish supporters after a controversial semi-final penalty, but was a real competitor to win the tournament player if Italys had not won.

Director: Roberto Mancini (Italy)

Kasper Hjulmand acted with great dignity and ignited Denmark after being upset to lose Christian Eriksen in his opening race and Gareth Southgate broke the hoods of England by defeating Germany and reaching the finals. Still, the way Mancini reacted to the early goal surrender in the final and changed the game was more evidence of the tactical rise of former Manchester City leaders.
