Grief-stricken residents create a tennis court mural for a baby killed by a dog

A moving gesture has united a grief-stricken community when a family dog ​​chopped a five-week-old baby boy to death.

Locals in a suburb on the central coast of Kariong NSW have erected a heart-warming tennis court in honor of a mural tragically killed by his family’s American Staffordshire Terrier in Kariong just after 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Police performed resuscitation on a 5-week-old baby before paramedics also tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the baby.

The boy’s parents were the only people at home at the time of the attack. A 6-year-old dog that had attacked another dog weeks earlier was killed.

Locals have gathered grief around the affected parents. One woman, Lisa, posted to the Facebook group the original idea of ​​weaving a heart on a tennis court.

“I just saw in tonight’s news about the tragedy of the Kariong family, whose baby died early in the morning,” he wrote to a Facebook group.

“I can’t imagine the pain and sadness. I don’t know the family. But I wonder if anyone has come up with a way to express their love for them in a public place in our community?

“I’m going to weave tomorrow at 4pm into the wire of the fence of the big heart tennis court (with scrap fabrics) and take the candles.

“I know we’re in a locked state. I don’t suggest group gathering. I walk there for daily exercise. If you want to add to that, do it. I’ll take responsibility for cleaning everything up in about a week.

“Rest little by little and we can wrap your family in love.”

Another local Trace favored the tribute.

District Commander Detective Superintendent Darryl Jobson of the Brisbane Water Police in Gosford said the death was “a matter of tragic scale.”

“The neighbor dog apparently got into the backyard and unfortunately this dog was ridiculed,” Jobson said.

“It was a separate case, but it’s also part of our investigation.”

Jobson also said the emergency crew members who attended the incident were destroyed and would receive advice and support.

“Our police gave first aid on arrival. They did their best in the circumstances and they will no doubt be shaken,” he said.
