Munich 2022 will add Para canoe and Para rowing to the European Championships program

The organizers argued that these two disciplines will increase the diversity of the second edition of the event.

A total of 12 competitions are held in para-kayaking, four of which continue in para-rowing, and the competitions complement the sports program.

The men’s and women’s para paddlers will compete in the 200-meter VL1, VL2 and VL3 competitions, and the CL1, CL1 and KL3 competitions will also be featured in the program of games from 11 to 21 August next year.

The PR1 fixed single events for men and women are included in the Para rowing program, which is complemented by PR2 mixed parameters and PR3 mixed events.

“The 2022 European Championships are in a good way becoming a major international sports festival that will be remembered for a long time,” said Joachim Herrmann, Bavarian Minister for the Interior, Sports and Integration.

“The decision to include Para sports in the program has been made.

“The movement emphasizes the unifying activities of sport and brings even more variety to an already very attractive event.”

The addition of disciplines means that the European Championships will offer 176 medal events and 4,700 athletes will compete.

Athletics, cycling, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon are featured in the program for the second edition of the multi-sport event.

Beach volleyball, kayaking, sport climbing and table tennis were added to the program last year.

“I think the idea of ​​a European Championship is great,” said Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter.

“In 2022, we will finally have another major sporting event in Munich with fascinating and exciting competitions.

“We also explicitly support the integration of para races into kayaking and rowing.

“Equality and social justice are more important than ever today.

“Discrimination and exclusion have no place in our society.

“Sport is the best example.”
