Ohio State Football Team 2010 members call on NCAA to return their winnings for that season introduction of name, image and image rules in the beginning of July.
Former Ohio State Playground Terrelle Pryor along with four other members of the Tattoo-Five team issued a statement on Tuesday want to restore their records, victories and titles.
While this could never undo what it took for us and our families to break rules that should never have existed, Pryor said. We believe that restoring and acknowledging the achievements of ourselves and our teammates would be a huge step in the right direction.
The Ohio State 2010 soccer team earned a 12-1 record, a Big Ten title and a Sugar Bowl win over Arkansas Razorbacks behind legendary coach Jim Tressel.
However, after the Tattoo-Gate scandal, where Pryor and former Buckeyes broad receiver DeVier Posey, runner Dan Herron, offensive line Mike Adams and defensive line Solomon Thomas sold their memorabilia in exchange for free tattoos, the NCAA moved to release books from the season record.
The scandal also left a stain on Tressels ’legacy and led to his resignation as head coach in 2011.
We demand the restoration of our school records and heritage so that Buckeye Nation can look at us with the same love and love we have always had for them, Pryor said. We look forward to one day telling our story and Tattoo 5 forever to be a legal part of Ohio’s magnificent history.
Pryor cited the NCAA’s new rules that allow student athletes to benefit from their name, image, and appearance as the primary reason for the governing body to return their profits. This comes in the footsteps of former USC’s successive Reggie Bush, which is demanding the NCAA return its 2005 Heisman Award on July 1.
