According to the International Tennis Integrity Association (ITIA), it is investigating two matches from this month’s Wimbledon Grand Slam when bookmakers announced “possible irregular betting programs”.

“Two announcements (were submitted) to us during the championships from the betting company, which indicates possible irregular betting patterns,” an ITIA spokesman said.

“We can’t comment on the details of these while they’re being investigated.”

ITIA stated that all notifications reported to the Agency are “recorded, evaluated and monitored as an indication that something inappropriate may have occurred”.

According to the AELTC, the integrity of sport is paramount

“It is important to note that a warning alone is not evidence of a match being corrected. If a match alert analysis indicates corruption, ITIA will conduct a full and confidential investigation,” it added.

The tennis governing bodies (ATP, WTA, ITF and Grand Slam Board) established ITIA in January as a fully independent body to ensure the integrity of professional tennis worldwide.

It was formerly known as the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU), which investigated corruption and match-fixing.

According to the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club (AELTC), “the integrity of the sport” is very important in Wimbledon.

“We will continue to invest in additional measures to support integrity on the ground during the championships,” AELTC added.
