The Top-3 lineman will nominate OSU as a finalist

The Ohio state football team may continue to recruit because they have another offensive lineman who may want to join the 2022 class.

The Buckeyes may close to another much-needed lineman in their 2022 recruitment class. Addison Nichols of Norcross Georgia has named OSU one of its three finalists.

Nichols is one of the most respected interior offensive linemeners in the country. He is nationally number three in the year 247 Sports“Combined rankings. While many schools have talked to him about playing in any position along the offensive line, he said the Buckeyes want him as a tackle.

He told Bucknuts the thing that most affected him during his official visit on 14 June was how the Buckeyes have invested in the overall development of the player,

“When you get there, they make an entire PowerPoint and spreadsheet – they set you individual, annual goals, and then they say,‘ So what do you want to be here for? “And then when you get there, they’ll see if it hits, and then they’ll go from there and move through it, and they’ll see what you want to do in life and they’ll start working with you on networking and preparing for practice. They put a lot more detail into development.”

In addition to the Buckeyes, Nichols officially visited Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and USC. But it was the school he visited on an informal visit that has arrived in the last three: North Carolina. The Tar rate is seen as a rising program led by veteran coach Mack Brown, who led the Texas national title in 2005. Looking at his list of visits, which is the third of his finalists, Tennessee is also a bit of a surprise.

At the moment, Nichols has only been given one prediction, and that’s someone I trust. 247 Sports Recruitment Director Steve Wiltfong gets him to go to Tennessee. His prediction is Medium (6 out of 10). Wiltfong hits about 97 percent of his predictions, so while it may seem like the Buckeys don’t have much room to work here, Nichols liked the non-nonsense approach to earning playing time,

“… if I work hard enough, I could earn myself a place, but nothing can be guaranteed. I love it that way – I have to earn it. I’m excited about wherever I go, fight my way in. It’s fun.”

Ohio state football has commitments from just two lines in their 2022 recruitment class. In addition to Nichols, they hope for good news from Kam Dewberry of Texas. Nichols has not set a commitment date.
