BRASHER FALLS The Stanley Cup will visit the Tri-Town Arena in Bras-Falls next Wednesday.
St Lawrence Central goalkeeper Derek Lalonde, an assistant coach for the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning, will spend the day with the Stanley Cup on July 21 at two public events.
The first is in the arena from 5:15 pm to 8:00 pm. People watching the Stanley Cup enter through the main doors and exit the distant entrance.
Officials expect many to attend and ask people to be patient and keep their cameras or phones ready to take a picture. A person can take a family photo of the Stanley Cup if required, but visitors must provide their own camera.
Lalonde also won the Stanley Cup last year alongside Massena’s native Zach Bogosian, who was a lightning defender on the 2020 team, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, no member of the organization was able to take the Stanley Cup from Tampa, Fla. .
After the Tri-Town Arena event, Lalonde will take the Stanley Cup to Riverview Bar and Restaurant, which is also in Brasher Falls. The Stanley Cup is expected to be there until midnight.
The last time the Stanley Cup made an official visit to the area was in the summer of 2015, when Massena’s native Eric Meacham spent a day winning it as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks coaching staff.
