July 15 (Reuters) – Shirley Fry Irvin, one of ten women who have won singles titles in all four Grand Slams, died at the age of 94, International Tennis Hall of Fame reported opinion.
An American died in Naples, Florida on Tuesday.
Fry won his first Grand Slam championship at the French Open in 1951, before winning at the Wimbledon and US Open in 1956 and the following year at the Australian Open.
The former number one in the world, who also won 12 Grand Slam pair and mixed doubles titles, was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1970.
