AFTER COVID-19 moved the world in 2020, Alexandra Avila was one of many Americans looking for the social distance of their local tennis courts. During the pandemic, the publicist moved from Manhattan to the sleepy Nyack to New York State. He took the racket for the first time in an attempt to break out of the long grass of the lock.
I spotted these tennis courts a block from my new house and just got to talk to the coach through the fence one morning, said the luxurious 34-year-old Avila, who works in the tourism industry. The next day, I was on the field for my first lesson at 5:30, and I haven’t looked back since. I am completely in love with sports … I now own three rackets.

According to the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA), the governing body of sports in the USM. The Avilas story is common. The organization pumped $ 50 million to local clubs and courts during the pandemic, and this investment now pays dividends as the sport enjoys what USTA Commitment and Services Director Mickey Maule describes to beginners in the golden age.
However, Mr Maule warned that one thing all students in the sport will eventually hit (except balls) are the plains, especially if they are one of the most troubled competitors in America among the estimated 4 million new and returning tennis players in 2020, according to the USTA. Whether it’s your two-handed palm or your top, at some point you’ll run into a temporary roadblock.
We asked Ms. Avila and three other typical players to share their frustrations with the learning curve and then identify the equipment guided by the tennis experts that is best designed to get around them. Because of the great brilliance Martina Navratilova once remarked: Anyone said no, whether you win or lose, it will probably be lost.
I know a strong one-handed back hand gives me an advantage, but I haven’t learned it. Can anything help me? Brennwyn Romano, 32, Dallas, Texas
The main difference between a two-handed and a one-handed hand is the strength of your wrists, said Mickey Maule, director of engagement and services at USTA, who called wrist force a massively underrated part of your tennis game. A Powerball gyroscope can help you build it and strengthen your club grip quickly. The handheld gizmo includes a rotor that rotates up to 300 revolutions per second and is powered only by twisting your wrist. The faster you turn (use the pot shuffle), the more Powerball fights backwards and the stronger your wrist and forearm are. Starting at $ 28, rpmpower.com
My service is usable, but Id wants to make it faster, more accurate, and harder to return to. Alexandra Avila, 34, Nyack, NY
Total Serves rubber Servemaster helps you break down important service businesses from the comfort of your own home. Former pro player Lisa Dodson’s ideology, a simple gadget is essentially a weighted copy of the racket handle and balls that you swing like a real one to get a perfectly smooth movement and increase strength, especially if you try to use it for a few minutes every day, Mr Maule said. The tool is available in one, two and three ball versions (best to work with) and has grip marks to facilitate accurate hand placement. A series of free online videos will guide you through the exercises. Starting at $ 40, thetotalserve.com

I love improving my accuracy in the corners: It’s easy to hit shots, but very valuable. Brynn Wheeler, 28, Denver, Colo.
Hitting the ball into hard-to-reach corners of the field is a risky strategy that can have a huge win because the shot is notoriously difficult for a partner to return. It is also just as difficult to master, as players training alone often have difficulty telling if there are close shots on the other side of the field. A portable in / out line call device that acts as a line judge during solo practice solves it. The camera attached to the network pole is accurate to the nearest millimeter, flashing red or green in increments of a second to polish your target. $ 275 inout.tennis
Consistency is my question, especially with regard to the return of services. I know I’ll hit the ball well if I position myself correctly, but Id wants to do this more often. Tom Cartmale, 42, Costa Mesa, California
As with most sports, practice makes tennis perfect. But there are ways to get perfect faster and the big part is the ball machine you train with. Portable machines are becoming much cheaper and easier to use, and many of the latest 200-ball models fit easily in the trunk of your car. But the real ace up your sleeve is the Spinshot remote. Forget the occasional bombing of the dam down or sprint back and forth across the field to change settings. During practice, the tennis ball machine is your best friend, the more you can control it and sharpen your practice into winning patterns rather than random ones, the better, Mr. Maule said. With the help of click commands, this streamlined wristband dominates many of the models built from 2020 onwards. So you can practice one particular shot over and over until you get it right before you tap your wrist and move on to the next one. $ 135,rpmpower.com
