UEFA will announce the hosts of the Champions League final for the next four seasons

The next four Champions League finals in 2022-2025 will be hosted by St. Petersburg, Istanbul, London and Munich, UEFA, the governing body of European football, announced on Friday.

St. Petersburg’s Krestovsky Stadium was scheduled to host the 2021 finals. However, due to the postponement and redistribution of the 2020 final to Lisbon due to the European COVID-19 pandemic, the final hosts were pushed back a year, and St. Petersburg is now hosting the 2022 final.

Istanbul, which lost its final host right to Porto in 2021, allowing a limited number of fans to take part in the match, will instead host an exhibition game in 2023.

Originally scheduled for the 2023 final, Munich will now host the match in 2025, while London’s Wembley Stadium will retain rights to the 2024 final.

Bilbao and Dublin, who were unable to host matches at this year’s European Championships, agreed an agreement with the UEFA Executive Committee and will host the Europa League final in 2024 and 2025.

Bilbao will also host the Women’s Champions League final in 2024.

“We were all disappointed when the COVID-19 pandemic saw four UEFA EURO 2020 games move out of Dublin, so this is really only to be expected in three years’ time, ”Jonathan Hill, director general of the Irish Football Association, said in a statement.

“The 2024 UEFA Europa League final is a major event with huge economic benefits for Dublin and Ireland. In addition, it will give the impetus it will give our game in building the final.”

Next year’s European League final will be played in Seville, and Budapest is set to host the 2023 title finalist in the second-level European club tournament.
