Primoz Roglic, 31, has already established himself as one of the best riders of his generation with two general class wins from Espoo Vuel, while only 26-year-old Matej Mohoric is already a two-time Slovenian road champion and boasts at least one single stage win in each of his cycling victories, three Grand Tours part of the Tour Tour win.
Pogacar’s girlfriend Urska Zigart claimed the first professional victory of her career just 24 years earlier this season to boost the country’s growing cycling reputation.
Pogacar’s rise to the glory of the Tour de France might not have come as a surprise, the only surprise was that it happened so quickly.
Just three years ago, Pogacar won the prestigious Tour l’Avenir, a race for under-23s that follows the Tour de France’s conclusion and often the same route.
However, if Pogacar’s victory was one of eternity, this year’s tour wasn’t always sailing, after the woman handed out a ticket and caused dozens of cyclists to crash during the first phase.
According to video footage of the race, on Saturday’s event, the brand hit German rider Tony Martin, who was cycling near the head of the pack. Martin fell, leading to dozens of drivers crashing behind him.
The cyclists fell into the crowd and the collision left the bikes and baskets tangled in the road. Autumn held the race for several minutes.
