Tennis star, Valley Stream Native Naomi Osaka to play at the US Open

Naomi Osaka will defend her title at the US Open, organizers said Wednesday when she withdrew from this year’s French Open and Wimbledon for mental health reasons.

Osaka, who grew up in Valley Stream, amazed the tennis world when he resigned from the main tournament on the Paris clay court in May after his first-round match when he was fined and threatened with rejection when he refused to attend mandatory post-game press conferences.

The world’s second-largest, who said he was socially anxious, also overtook Wimbledon, but is scheduled to play in the Tokyo Olympics in Japan and then in Montreal next month.

Osaka is part of the US Open women’s field, which also includes world number one Ash Barty, who raised another major title at Wimbledon earlier this month.

A total of 15 big winners, including Simona Halep and Garbine Muguruza, are scheduled to perform on the women’s field at Flushing Meadows.

In the men’s series, former champions Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal – who are currently tied to the men’s 20 Grand Slam corporate matches – continue to search for more silverwareNewYork.

World number one Djokovic, who has come from his third major win in Wimbledon in 2020, aims to become the first man after Australian Rod Laver in 1969 to complete a calendar year sweep.

Another former champion, Andy Murray, who is currently 104, did not succeed in the main series but is still the first player on the reserve list.

The US Open will be held with a 100% fan from August 30th to September 12th.
