No new positive cases for the West Indies team, in negotiations with Australia

No new cases of COVID-19 have been found since Australian and West Indian players, support staff, match officials and broadcasters were tested following a positive result from one home support staff, which forced the rejection of another ODI in Barbados.

The final two matches of the ODI series are likely to move forward until final approvals are awaited before the Australian team flies to Dhaka in the middle of the week against its later Twenty20 series against Bangladesh.

Cricket Australia had been looking for more information on West Indian support staff movements and how they may have contracted the coronavirus, including details of anyone they have had contact with outside the team bubble.

Both sides have acted in accordance with agreed biosafety protocols over the past three weeks, including a joint flight from Saint Lucia to Barbados between the Twenty20 International Series (won by West India won 4-1) and the start of ODI. matches to be watched.

The Australian team only has a narrow window where they can play other matches in the Caribbean before a scheduled trip to Bangladesh for five T20Is. The last match in the ODI series was scheduled to be played on Sunday morning at AEST.

The two teams left the Kensington Oval and immediately took isolation of the hotel after the second match was abruptly suspended after a coin toss in which Riley Meredith had been named to make her ODI debut in Australia.

All members of the West Indian and Australian teams and coaching staff, as well as match officials, event staff and TV production crew, were tested back at the hotel with everyone isolated from the room, West Indian cricket said in a statement.

After Barbados health ministry officials have confirmed that all results are negative, CWI is now arranging meetings with Cricket Australia (CA), Barbados Cricket Association and Barbados government officials to agree when the series continues in Kensington Oval to begin.
