It’s pretty appropriate that a series that has had almost all shades of drama, including a touch of the inexplicable when there was a hit-wicket in the Friday game that wasn’t, should have some sort of finale. That’s how we have it now, after Zimbabwe won Bangladesh in 23 runs in the second of three T20Is to put things nicely in the final match.
Zimbabwe has driven Bangladesh hard. They’ve wasted strong positions three times after their ball players had given them a chance, they’ve suffered three-hit collapses, and they haven’t defended 298 in the last three ODIs. All of these have proven that Bangladesh is an overwhelming party overall, but they faltered on Friday by losing that field with stakes. They let go of two catches and the catch was dropped between two field players, while Zimbabwe defended 166 by holding on to all nine chances.
These performances, along with the fact that Bangladesh is in the middle of Shakib and Mahmudullah, make them favorites to leave Zimbabwe with all three trophies – after winning a one-time test and sweeping three ODI sets.

In the spotlight
Wessley Madhevere played in the second T20I of the winning innings in 73 Zimbabwe. He had almost beaten them in the second ODI last week when he made fifty, took the racket and a good catch, and Zimbabwe hoped for him to have a new all-round job in the decision-making game.
Shorious Islam has so far taken five ports on two T20Is to complement the four – port pull of the second ODI. Islam has used a slower delivery behind the hand for a good result, and it could be the perfect foil for Rahman if both left-hand dice play in one final game.
