Search engine giant Google says it is taking steps to make its platforms safer for children using the company’s apps.
Google’s parent company, Alphabet, says it will start blocking ad targeting based on the age, gender and interests of people under the age of 18.
The company will disable its location history feature, which tracks users’ location data, as well as introducing a new policy for users under the age of 18 and their parents or guardians, allowing them to request removal of images of the young man from Google searches.
On the company’s video sharing platform, YouTube, the default privacy settings for users aged 13-17 will be set to the most private option available.
