Russia’s communications supervisory body Roskomnadzor warned Apple and Google on Thursday that the tech giants will face fines if they don’t remove an app associated with jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny from their digital markets.
Roskomnadzor released the statement via Russian news agency Interfax, stating that the app “is being used to continue the activities and running of… The Anti-Corruption Fund”, which has been recognized as an extremist group and banned by the court.
