Fortnite Season 8 introduces a new character that players can customize over the next couple of months. Instead of an alien, it’s something far more horrifying: a cartoon version of Fish Sticks, much like Meowscles’ cel-shaded toon skin.
You’ll paint Toona Fish with colorful bottles and rainbow ink, or complete unique challenges to collect preset color schemes.
So how do you collect bottles of rainbow color and ink? Your first step is to claim Toona Fish from the Season 8 Battle Pass for nine stars. This unlocks its basic black and white version and allows you to start customizing it on the other page of the battle pass menu.
How to get the rainbow ink in Fortnite
Rainbow Ink is a new currency that can be spent to unlock individual color styles based on previous Fortnite characters. These include examples like Midas (gold), Cuddle Team Leader (aggressive pink) or Love Ranger (pink and stone gray), to name a few. Each style costs 10 rainbow ink.
You will find rainbow ink inside the loot chests scattered around the map. This includes regular loot chests and cosmic chests. Cosmic Chests are only found in duos, trios, and team games, so the process may be easier with friends.
But to fully unlock a default font style, you’ll also need the corresponding color bottles.

Colored bottles can be found in specific locations listed in the Toona Fish menu. Simply select a font style (such as Red Knight) and the bottom right corner will tell you where three bottles of color are. So for Red Knight, it would be Fort Crumpet. Head to the location and collect all three color bottles to unlock that color.

Keep in mind that to find one of these, you will need to unlock Toona Fish in the battle step. Otherwise, they will not be displayed. Don’t be silly like me and think you can stock up right from the start.
