Ultrasound Tech – Lead (Fetal and Maternal Medicine Center) – Full time – Days

Target Position:

Become a team leader and provide operational oversight of ultrasound technicians and students.

Essential job duties:

Conduct annual clinical evaluations of ultrasound technicians in collaboration with physicians and assist the study manager in hiring and evaluating new ultrasound technicians. Review the clinic’s schedules on a daily / weekly basis to ensure adequate timing, distribution and staffing. Responsible for all AIUM recertification and compliance efforts, in collaboration with the practice manager. Improve clinical processes related to studies, exams, ultrasound reports, in collaboration with MFM doctors. Performs routine radiographic and ultrasound procedures in accordance with established safety and quality standards and the special needs of patients. Performs ultrasound diagnostic procedures and routine ultrasound procedures within the designated time frame and in accordance with established quality standards and the needs of the office and organization. Participate as a member of a specialized medical team in performing biopsies of various organs and preparing patients for specific procedures required by the doctor. Obtain relevant clinical data prior to ultrasound examination, oversee patient planning and preparation, and record meaningful data. Conducts daily calibration checks in the adjustment and maintenance of ultrasound and peripheral equipment and records the results. Maintains a log of daily activities and a manual of procedures; compiles data and issues monthly reports as required. Guarantees compliance with the organization and office specific security policies and procedures; maintains the standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the work area. Demonstrate proper use of the computer by entering all relevant information at the end of the procedure and adhering to the confidentiality policy.

Educational / experiential requirements:

Successful completion of a one-year program in Ultrasound Technology. Two years full time as a clinical ultrasound in a hospital x-ray setting.

License / Certifications required:

BLS CPR certification is required. Certification in Physics, Abdomen-Pelvis, OB-GYN by the Registry of Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound (RDMS) is required. Recommend an additional registry in one of the following: OB / GYN, neonatal or vascular hands.

Maryland AART licensed preferred

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.

Physical demands –

Heavy work. Exercise up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
