Destiny 2 has an easy-to-do cheat called min / max glitch on PC that gives players infinite orbs and a host of other perks that disrupt many of the game’s great activities. Bungie confirmed over the weekend that it is working on a fix, but in the meantime the developer warns that players will be “met with increasing restrictions” if they keep trying.
The glitch was apparently first discovered by a group of gamers earlier this year, but over the weekend one member, a player calling himself JB3, went rogue and uploaded a video to YouTube. against their will by explaining how to accomplish the relatively simple but devastating exploit. . “DMG is not responding to my DMs, so I thought I’d do this tutorial,” wrote JB3.
But another member of the group, ghoutmiller, claimed on Twitter that JB3 had posted the tutorial in retaliation for Bungie banning them after using the glitch in a PVP match. “This is a broken and powerful glitch,” ghoutmiller wrote. “Don’t use this; On your behalf and do not spread the word of this traitor ”.
As a result, the minimum / maximum glitch is now available. This involves playing Destiny 2 in windowed mode on PC and holding the cursor over the minimize screen icon in the upper right corner. Players need to hold it down for at least five seconds, release it, and then hold it down again to initiate some framerate issues that seem to be triggering the glitch. “That’s it,” writes JB3.
Doing this right before popping a titan bubble or the sorcerer’s well of radiance will spawn a “ton of shit” of orbs, while doing the minimum / maximum trick right before other things in the game will extend the countdown timers. For example, players can use it during the final boss battle of the Vault of Glass raid to make Atheon vulnerable much longer so that players can kill him in a single damage phase. The glitch can also be used to stay in PVP, writes JB3, messing things up for other players.

That’s why Bungie community manager dmg04 took to Twitter over the weekend shortly after the video was released to warn players not to attempt the minimum / maximum glitch themselves. It announced that a fix is on the way, but it won’t arrive until a December update. Meanwhile, a “rutabaga” error was distributed to try to disconnect any players who might experience the exploit.
“If players quit the game numerous times, they can be subject to increasing restrictions,” wrote dmg04. “So, in addition to recommending that you do not negatively impact the experience of others by reproducing this problem, I also advise you not to ruin yours.”
Bungie recently battled a number of other technical issues, including ongoing issues with its Telesto exotic fusion rifle, which was again taken offline earlier this month following endless orb spawning issues. The study also reported a recent surge in Rutabaga’s errors, likely because some players have decided to ignore Bungie’s advice.
