Avengers removes pay-to-win microtransactions after the backlash

Marvel’s Avengers developers have announced that Hero’s Catalysts and Fragment Extractor will be removed from the real money store. After considering your feedback, we have decided that by the end of today we will be removing Hero Catalysts and Shard Extractors for purchase. They will continue to be earnable rewards and those already owned are still usable ”.

The boosters were initially added to the game shortly after it moved to Xbox Game Pass in late September. In a pre-launch blog post in 2020, the developers “pledged that the real-money content in Marvel’s Avengers will be cosmetic additions only, which will ensure we keep the game fresh for years to come.”

In today’s reversal message, the developers state “we hope this will be the first step in rebuilding your trust in us as a team.”
