Google Smartwatch: What we know and what we don’t know about the company’s Apple Watch rival

[ad_1]

It looks like Google is finally getting its own smartwatch, and it could reportedly sport the Pixel branding. Google is rumored to be ready to launch its first smartwatch next year, 2022. The watch could be called the Pixel Watch. Said to be referred to as an inhouse Android watch, its code name is reportedly Rohan. Although Google operates several smartwatches from different brands, they haven’t made their own smartwatch so far. The company has other products under the Pixel brand, including wireless headphones called Pixel Buds. Google is said to have almost launched its smartwatch in 2016, before the plan was shelved at the last minute after Google senior executive Rick Osterloh pulled the plug from the device because it “didn’t look like the one that belonged to the Pixel family.” Here’s everything we know and don’t know about the alleged Pixel Watch. Pixel Watch will work on WearOS One thing that is certain about the watch is that it will work on the company’s operating system for wearable devices: WearOS. Google is also rumored to be working on integrating the Fitbit OS into WearOS. What will the Pixel Watch look like? There are no confirmations in this regard. However, according to leaked renders, the clock is round and has no bezels. This means it won’t have an Apple Watch-like design. Another popular smartwatch in the Samsung Galaxy Watch category has a round dial. Will the watch be integrated with Fitbit? Google acquired the leading Fitbit wearable device in 2019 in a $ 2.1 billion deal. It is uncertain whether the watch will have Fitbit technology or will be a standalone device. The speculations are that, as the Watch will compete with the Apple Watch, Google may be using the Pixel branding over Fitbit. Pixel Watch Will Offer Fitness Features Pixel Watch will offer all the key health and fitness tracking features like step and calorie count, heart rate monitor and more. The Fitbit CEO had previously said that some of the popular Fitbit features would come to Wear watches. When will Pixel Watch launch? There are no confirmed timelines, but speculations suggest the watch could be launched in the spring of 2022, which means in the second quarter of the year.
