Dead by Daylight takes the ring to its own horrifying world

The new chapter of Dead by Daylight, the successful multiplayer survival horror game, brings with it an icon of a Japanese cult classic. The world of Dead by Daylight collides with the story of Ringu, the cult classic that was famously adapted into The Ring, the blockbuster horror film.

Dead by Daylight has gone from being known for its scary gameplay to getting even more accolades for its horror collaborations. It features various icons from the genre, including Pinhead from Hellraiser, Freddy Krueger, Nemesis of Resident Evil 3, Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, Michael Myers and more.

Not only will Dead by Daylight be mixing pieces from Ringu’s film adaptation, but also from the original novel. The trailer didn’t show exactly what will happen with the new chapter. although we can assume that the main antagonist of the Ring series, Sadako Yamamura, will appear as a new playable killer.

“This new chapter inspired by Kōji Suzuki’s novel and the acclaimed original film adaptation will open the door to endless excitement and countless game possibilities,” said developers of Dead by Daylight, Behavior Interactive, in a press release, “as it combines the eerie and melancholy world of psychological horror masterpiece with the twisted fantasy of Dead by Daylight.

The new chapter of Dead by Daylight with elements of the Ring franchise does not have a specific release date, but it is confirmed that it will appear on screens everywhere (just like Sadoko Yamamura herself) in March 2022.
