A note released by Google management says employees have until December 3 to declare their vaccination status and upload documentation that proves it, or to apply for a medical or religious exemption, according to the report.

After that date, Google said it would begin contacting employees who had not uploaded their status or were not vaccinated and those whose waiver claims had not been approved, CNBC reported Tuesday.

Employees who have not complied with vaccination rules by January 18 will be placed on “paid administrative leave” for 30 days, CNBC reported, followed by “personal unpaid leave” of up to six months and layoff.

Like much of the United States, Silicon Valley is facing a resurgence of COVID-19 and the new variant of the coronavirus Omicron, forcing companies to reassess plans to return staff to offices.
