Darts star Fallon Sherrock had to ask bar staff to Google her when she forgot her ID.

The 27-year-old will play tonight against Steve Beaton in the first round of the 2022 PDC World Darts Championship.

She made history at the 2020 event when she became the first woman to win a match in the main darts tournament as she progressed to the round of 32.

Sherrock failed to qualify for the World Cup last year, but will start this year’s campaign at Alexandra Palace after an impressive 2021.

He reached the Nordic Masters final, where he lost to Michael van Gerwen, before competing in a tight quarter-final with Peter Wright at the Grand Slam of Darts,

The Buckinghamshire pitcher is one of the more popular names on the PDC circuit, however there are some who are not quite up to speed with Sherrock and his exploits on the geese.

“My friends and I went out, and I said, ‘I’m not very good,’ and then I fooled them and their face!” He recalled.

“So I say, ‘Google me.’ Once I forgot my ID and said, “So could you google me?” And they gave me a drink.

“Since the World Championship, everyone knows who I am and the problem now is that everyone is throwing their A-game at me.”

Should Sherrock make it to the next round of the ongoing world championship, he would appreciate the chance to take on world number one and defending champion Gerwyn Price in a potential round three bout.

He said, “This year, I’m like, ‘I have Gerwyn in my draw’ and I really want to play the world champion because I’ve had the privilege of playing the BDO world champion this year (Wayne Warren), so I’d love to play the PDC world champion to see what I can give him.

“Practice went absolutely well. It’s going as I expected it to go, so that’s a good thing. There are no differences.

“I train like I normally do. I train around my doubles, scoring and finishing. Obviously I’m trying to play more on the set rather than on my legs because it’s a different format.”

Ahead of his opening game tonight, Sherrock shared his thoughts on playing Steve Beaton and his approach to the game.

“I’m really excited to play Steve. He’s a legend in the game and he’s so iconic,” Sherrock said.

“He’s also another person I can play with, which is a big name. I love being up to the occasion, producing my own game and playing with these good players that everyone knows.

“I am happy to play Steve Beaton. I would be happy to play anyone because I know in my day how I can compete with these players. I can reach hundreds of averages, like them. So I am always going to go into every game confident of winning.

“My belief is that if I go into a game thinking, ‘I won’t win’, then I won’t, so you have to be a little positive, so every game I play in, I’m thinking, ‘I will win’.

“Even though I’m averaging 90 and they’re getting 110 or something like that, I’m thinking, ‘I still have a chance here.’ There won’t be a point where I don’t give up. He’ll go into the race confident.”
