Legal Tech News quoted Michelle Reed, co-responsible for Akin Gump’s cyber security, privacy and data protection practice, in the article “Legal Tech’s Predictions for Privacy in 2022”. The article is part of the publication’s annual look at the trends privacy professionals seek for the year ahead.
“From multiple state privacy laws to biometric technology litigation,” the article states that privacy professionals “expect a busy 12 months.”
“‘Data such as’ new oil’ will meet with a dispute over ownership of the ‘new oil’ reserve,” says Ms. Reed. “Technology companies will continue to feel the tight regulation on the unrestricted use of personal data, with new regulations and hefty legal penalties that result from the ever-expanding use of individuals’ personal information.”
Earlier this month, Ms. Reed and fellow study co-lead Natasha Kohne were shortlisted for distinction by Global Data Review in that publication’s annual ranking of the world’s best data law firms. Find out more here.
