The iPhone 14 Pro models will feature a pill-shaped camera cutout at the top of the display, with the notch removed, according to tweets shared by leaker @dylandkt, which has proven to be a reliable source of Apple-related rumors in the last year or so. To accommodate this change, the leaker said the Face ID hardware will be moved under the display.

While it has been widely reported that the iPhone 14 Pro models won’t get a notch from reputable sources like analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, this is the first time we’ve heard about the possibility of a camera cutout. pill-shaped at the top of the display instead of a circular perforated cutout that was originally said.

Face ID moving under the display was also previously reported by display industry consultant Ross Young, which has proven to be a reliable source of display-related information for future Apple products. Last year, for example, Young accurately stated that the new iPad mini would have an 8.3-inch display with the Home button removed.

In a tweet, @dylandkt said he was assured that Face ID’s reliability won’t be negatively impacted by changing the display.

I am able to confirm information regarding a perforated camera for iPhone 14 professional models. The Face ID hardware will be placed under the display. To reassure any concern, the functionality of these sensors was not adversely affected by this change. – Dylan (@dylandkt) January 6, 2022
