“From Sundar Pichai to Parag Agrawal, several luminaries are proof of Indian youth leadership on the global stage,” Muraleedharan said during his virtual keynote address at the Youth Pravasi Bhartiya Divas conference focusing on the role of diaspora youth in innovation and technology sunday.

“Today, in the context of technological developments, it is indeed a proud moment for Indians as Indians are becoming global leaders,” he added.

Pointing out that technology today is not just the means to development, he said that in these pandemic times it has become critical to our normal function.

“Young people are playing a key role in determining where society is going and where the world is moving, bringing about technological changes and using them in innovative ways, particularly in the social and political sectors,” said the minister.

In the context of technological developments it is indeed a proud moment for Indians as Indians are becoming global leaders, he said.

“Our diaspora acts as a living bridge connecting India to the world,” he added. The minister also recalled that the members of the great Indian diaspora, while well integrated in the countries and societies in which they live and work, have continued to maintain deep ties with their homeland and its rich traditions and culture.

“While they hold esteemed leading positions in their respective spheres, be it politics, economics, cultural services or technology, they maintain a lasting bond and an interest in staying in touch with their roots and upholding their traditions, rituals, ritual cultures and language. “, added the minister.

Also present at the event was the secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sanjay Bhattacharya, who said that “in 25 years we will celebrate our centenary; preparations are underway for the 2047 vision (independence day)”. “According to World Bank estimates, India will be an economy with a GDP of $ 10 trillion. Young people will play a key role in it,” he added.

Pointing out that India’s youth and the diaspora community have made an extraordinary journey into innovative technology and creativity, the minister said that the diaspora is making great strides in seeking innovative solutions. “Working with young people is an investment,” he added.

India celebrates the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) on January 9 every year to celebrate the contribution of the overseas Indian community to India’s development.
