Google tests video doorbell previews on pixel lock screen – Geek review

When Android 12 launched in 2021, Google announced a number of new features for the Pixel phone’s “At a Glance” widget. And one of the most anticipated of these new features, the ability to see Nest Doorbell previews on your Pixel’s lock screen, is now available to some users with the Google beta app (v13.0.6).

As reported by Mishaal Rahman, Google is rolling out a server-side update that adds Nest Doorbell previews to some users’ At a Glance widget. If someone rings your Nest Doorbell (or detects motion), a small preview clip will appear on the lock screen, saving you the trouble of opening an app. (If you’re already on the Pixel home screen, you’ll see a small doorbell notification without a preview clip.)

If you’re a Pixel user running Android 12 with the Google beta app (v13.0.6), you can try enabling Nest Doorbell previews from the At a Glance settings. Unlock your Pixel, press and hold the A glance widget on the home screen and activate “Doorbell”. (Note that this feature is not yet available to all beta users.)

I should note that other new At a Glance features, including the flashlight reminder, are now showing up in the At a Glance settings. But they still don’t seem to work.

Again, this feature isn’t widely available yet. You can try to force this on your device by installing the latest beta version of the Google app from APK Mirror, but Google is only enabling it for a small handful of users. A larger launch is expected to take place in the near future.
