The January update on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro has probably just finished its marathon “optimization” session and you’re still trying to figure out what Google has fixed or changed after two months without seeing an update, but we still want to know. how things are going. After all, this nearly 2-month gap in updates has led to the Pixel 6 line from Google’s beloved redeemer unveiling an army of “I’m buying an iPhone!” lads. This update is quite important.
In the update, Google attempted to fix around 100 bugs, some critical. There are battery and charging improvements, additional fingerprint reader improvements, several camera adjustments, increased adaptive brightness response time, improvements to Quick Tap, fixes for always-on display not turning on, and over 20 related things to the Android 12 user interface. They also tried to fix poor network connections and performance, WiFi outages, and that emergency call bug.
In addition to the fixes, this is also a Pixel Feature Drop! There isn’t much new in this drop, but Google has improved Now Playing in two ways, there’s a new Snapchat Quick Tap shortcut, and the UWB in the Pixel 6 Pro can now be used by a small group of people.
I’ve mostly used a regular Pixel 6 since the January update dropped and everything looks fine for now. Performance is still good overall, but yes, the fingerprint is and always will be panini. Battery life seems solid enough at the moment, even during this short test period. I’ll be doing network tests here shortly.
And you, how has your experience been with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro since you received the update yesterday?
