Google Chrome has a new logo. The logo (only if you look closely) appears to have brighter colors and a larger blue circle in the center. Also, the new icon has no shadows like the previous one. The Google Chrome logo changed after an interval of 8 years. The browser was introduced in 2008. Since then, the design and basic elements of the logo have remained modified with timely changes in 2011 and 2014. Chrome designer Elvin Hu detailed the changes in the browser logo in a series of tweet. “Some of you may have noticed a new icon in Chrome’s Canary update today. Yes! We are updating the Chrome brand icons for the first time in 8 years. The new icons will soon start appearing on your devices,” he wrote in a tweet. “We simplified the main brand icon by removing shadows, fine-tuning the proportions and brightening the colors to align with the more modern expression of Google’s branding,” he added. Another change the company has introduced is OS-specific customizations for Windows, Mac, and iOS devices. For Windows 10 and 11, the Chrome icon will have a gradual look that merges with other icons in the system tray. On macOS, the icon will have a 3D design similar to Apple’s system apps. While it uses brighter colors and no additional gradients on ChromeOS, the beta app on iOS will have a project-like icon as a nod to Apple’s developer-centric apps, and the Stable app icon will have new aspect ratio on the tile. All of these changes, Hu said, are being introduced to “align with Google’s more modern brand expression.” You might ask, “why bother with such subtle sth?” We tailor the Chrome experience to each OS, with features like Native Window Occlusion on Windows, M1 day-one support on macOS, Widgets on iOS / Android, and Material You on Android. We want our brand to convey the same level of attention, ”he said.
