On the horizon: Previewing 37 statewide events coming up in December

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Plenty of technology and life science events and program deadlines are coming up across North Carolina in December. Several events will be held in person or in a hybrid format, while many others remain virtual.

Building on WRAL TechWire’s ongoing work tracking important events and deadlines across North Carolina, here’s a look at what’s to come in December 2022:

Triangle Tech X Conference Nov. 30Dec. 1 (online)

For the fourth annual edition of its Triangle Tech X Conference, MetLife will bring together business and technology leaders to discuss the role women in STEM play in building solutions to current problems.

Southeast Renewable Energy Summit Nov. 30Dec. 2 @Omni Charlotte Hotel

Held annually, the Southeast Renewable Energy Summit convenes the regions clean energy sector to discuss trends in grid reliability / resilience, energy policies and procurement strategies, the M&A market, project financing and more.

In this day-long event, undergraduate students from colleges, universities and community colleges across the state will showcase their research and creative projects through posters, presentations, performances and art displays.

Downtown Techies Raleigh Happy Hour Dec. 6, 5-7 pm @Lynnwood Brewing Concern

The Downtown Techies Happy Hour event series is back at Raleighs Lynnwood Brewing Concern. Join to network with peers.

Dolphin Tank: Health Tech in the Triangle Dec. 6, 5-8 pm Alexandria Center for Advanced Technologies

This pitch event will showcase women-led startups that are developing health tech solutions. The program includes presentations, expert panelists, audience participation and networking.

CIO + CISO Reception (Charlotte) Dec. 6, 5: 30-7: 30 pm @ Duke Mansion

CIOs, CISOs and senior IT leaders will gather in Charlotte for an evening of networking over catered fare.

Code for Durham: Civic Hacking Session Dec. 6, 7 pm (online)

Code for Durham brings together technologists, designers, developers, data scientists, map makers and activists to collaborate on civic technology projects. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month.

For its Flash Grant program, the North Carolina Biotech Center is on the lookout for innovative high-potential life science technology ideas. Up to $ 20,000 may be requested.

2022 CXO Online Auction Dec. 7-9 (online)

The winning bidders of this online auction get the opportunity to meet one-on-one with tech CIOs CISOs and other CXOs. The auction supports NC TECHs statewide programs, including the Founders Scholarship for young women seeking engineering and / or technology-related degrees at higher education institutions.

Startup Ethics Roundtable Dec. 8, 11:15 am – 12:15 pm @The Hurt Hub @ Davidson

This monthly panel event will feature a roundtable discussion on the ethical issues facing startups and businesses. Tickets are free and open to Davidson College students and the broader community.
