Aiming to provide a better calling experience, tech giant Google has rolled out a new “smart network switching” feature to its Google Voice phone service, which will automatically switch in-progress calls between its cellular data service and Wi-Fi. -Fi.
Voice will now automatically switch from cellular data service to Wi-Fi when it determines that a network type will lead to better call quality, the tech giant said in a Workspace Updates blog post on Friday.
Prior to this change, Voice also identified the ideal network only at the time of the call and did not make any corrections for changes in network performance that could occur during the call.
This feature is not under administrator control and is now available to all users.
In December of last year, the tech giant rolled out a feature that allows users to customize how its voice service handles incoming calls.
Users have been able to configure the application to forward calls from individuals or groups of contacts to a linked phone number or to their voice messages.
