An instant messaging platform owned by Meta, WhatsApp will soon stop working on some Android smartphones and also some iPhones after December 2022.

WhatsApp will end support for its platform on some Android and Apple models. According to a report by GizChina, WhatsApp is planning to end support for nearly 49 smartphones from different brands like Samsung, Apple and more.

The report suggests that the Meta-owned social network will stop distributing updates from December 31, which will eventually lead to the shutdown of the WhatsApp service on these smartphones.

The new feature will allow users to report a status update directly within a new menu in the status section, reports WABetaInfo.

If users see suspicious status updates that may violate the Terms of Service, they will be able to report them to the moderation team with the new option.

As with reporting messages, the status update will be forwarded to the company for moderation purposes so they can see if there is a violation.

However, this feature doesn’t break end-to-end encryption.
