Google has reportedly started rolling out full TV controls on its Google Home app. According to a report from 9to5Google, users who have Google Assistant/Home support compatible TVs are seeing full touch controls. New touch controls include: volume up/down, mute/unmute, power on/off, play, pause, channels and a source list. Previously, the controls were only available on the Nest Hub, but now they’re available on the Home app. Last year, in August, Google said it was rolling out redesigned controls for popular smart home devices in the Google Home app, which included fans, air purifiers, vacuum cleaners and televisions. “This is unlike Cast-enabled or Google/Android TV TVs, which are instead served by the media controls of the new Google Home app,” the report added. The new page allows routines to manage various features of each device, compared to the previous page’s drop-down settings that only allowed users to adjust the on or off settings for every light or switch in their home. Google Adds Featured Card to Its People App Google has revamped its Contacts app by adding the Featured Card feature to its Contacts app on Android Devices. The search engine giant has now added the ‘Illustrations’ tool to the app which allows users to create a custom profile picture. According to a report by 9to5Google, the illustrations can be found alongside Google Photos and device photos. The new tool appears while a user is editing any contact on the app. Collections that include Animals, Cities & Places, Food, Hobbies & Interests, Nature, Sports & Recreation remain unchanged, but Google has reportedly added more to each of the sub-categories since launch. After selecting an image, users can edit the image with a number of tools available in the app. They may find a new Quick Crops feature that highlights interesting parts of an image and joins the other color tools that make Google Illustrations quite engaging, the report added. Last year, in September, Gmail received the “Google Illustrations” tool.
