According to a new report, the Google Pixel 7 series is enjoying great success among carriers and their subscribers. This contrasts with the same report last year, which contained disappointing news for the Pixel 6.
Those were the facts reported in research firm Wave7’s latest report (via Android Police) which includes responses from sellers of all three major US carriers. Last year, while gauging interest in the Pixel 6 series, sales reps revealed that interest in the Pixel was limited to diehard Pixel fans. In fact, this was even despite very high kickbacks or spiffs that were offered to incentivize reps to promote the line.
This year is a different story, though. According to the latest survey, 30 out of 39 representatives said that sales of the Pixel 7 series have been higher than those of its predecessors. Additionally, an AT&T rep said the Pixel 7 Pro is an often successful upsell over Google’s base model.
When the focus narrows down, Verizon was the best performing carrier when looking at sales share relative to the others. Verizon, which was previously the only carrier to offer the Pixel, currently holds Google’s share at 7%, which is the same as Wave7’s most recent survey, but that’s an increase from 3-4% when the Pixel was valued. 6.
AT&T was up 6% up from its previous 3% in October and T-Mobile was up 4%. Prior to the Pixel 7’s debut, Google had maintained a 1-3% range between these carriers.
This proves once again that the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro enjoyed a successful launch free from major bugs unlike its predecessor. I believe that early software problems with the device contributed to its less than great reception among the masses. Hopefully, this trend will continue with upcoming Pixel devices like the Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel 8.
