Forget racing at top speed, this 1,817hp winged monster is all about lap times

The customer is always right, goes the old adage. So when customers of John Hennesseys’ Venom F5 politely asked for a more track-focused version of the 300mph hypercar, the Texan was only too happy to oblige.

And here is the result of that Venom F5 Revolution customer request. The big headline isn’t the top speed which is limited to just under 250 mph thanks to all the extra aerodynamics. Said aero helps create a lot of downforce, meaning the Revolution should be able to get ridiculously fast lap times.

It’s basically our GT3 RS iteration of the F5, John Hennessey tells TG. So it’s not a racing car, it’s still a proper road car, but with a serious track focus.

A few more details, then. It’s still powered by the insane 1,817-hp 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 that Hennessey has dubbed the Fury, and he’s been told the Revolution has nearly identical DNA to the standard Venom F5 Coupe on which it’s based. It uses the same single-clutch seven-speed semi-automatic transmission (sending power to the rear wheels only) as also found on the original Venom F5, although here it is calibrated for competitive use.

There’s less weight to move for the 1,817bhp too, with systematic attention to weight reduction allowing for a figure below 1,360kg and making this the lightest variant of the Venom.

Aerodynamic improvements include that gigantic rear wing, a new front splitter and additional flaps in front of the front wheels. The wing itself, complete here in US specification livery for the first time buyer, is adjustable and can deliver up to 363kg of downforce at 186mph or over 635kg at 249mph.

There’s also a new roof scoop to route air into the monstrous V8 and aid in cooling, new forged wheels and tires with slightly larger contact patches, while the double wishbone suspension setup is more aggressive than before. and equipped with adjustable shock absorbers that can be tuned trackside. with simple tools.

The standard setup should be pretty tasty, because it was honed by Chief Engineer John Heinrocket Heinricy, a man with 38 years of performance car development experience at General Motors and numerous race and championship victories in his motorsport career. .

Oh, and Heinricy also has over 1,000 laps of the Nrburgring to her name, and it just so happens that some testing of the Revolution will take place in that particular part of Germany later this year. Pay attention to the lap time.

Are we going to beat the AMG One at the Nordschleife? Not necessarily that’s why we built the car. But surely at some point when we get to the Nordschleife, we were looking at the Ones 6m 35, says John Hennessey.

We won’t be making any statements setting any particular lap records, but we will do extensive testing and make sure we have a car that our customers are very happy with and feel confident in. If by virtue of that the car runs a certain number then that’s great, and whether it’s the AMG One at the Nrburgring or the McLaren Senna, which ran 2m 13s at the Circuit of the Americas, we’d like to see how our car compares. . As we enter our test schedule, we’ll keep you posted if any of our lap times are noteworthy.

You’ll be able to track your lap times even when driving the Revolution, because it will also feature a fully digital track telemetry system. Testing will also take place at the Circuit of the Americas, Laguna Seca, Road America and Spa-Francorchamps.

The cost for all of this? A cut to just $2.7 million, and it will also be limited to just 24 units. Most of them have already been sold, so if the Revolution is your ideal track-ready hypercar (of so many to choose from these days), then you better get that order fast.
