Links to the RUSTON story One year after setting records for annual and multi-year averages for academic progress rates (APRs), Louisiana Tech has once again raised the bar with high scores for the 2021-22 academic year.

In a statement released Tuesday by the NCAA, LA Tech posted its highest annual average of 987 (third-highest in Conference USA) and highest multi-year average of 981 (fourth-highest in Conference USA).

Eight programs posted a perfect 1,000-year APR mark for just one year, tying the all-time high during the 19-year academic measurement, while all 16 LA Tech Division I programs went penalty-free.

The programs that had a perfect rating for just one year were Men’s Basketball (3rd time overall), Men’s Cross Country (5th year in a row), Men’s Golf (3rd year in a row), Bowling (13th time overall), Cross Country women’s (seventh year in a row), softball (third time in the last four years), women’s tennis (seventh time in the last 10 years), and women’s volleyball (fourth time in the last five years).

Meanwhile, six programs Baseball (981), Men’s Basketball (975), Men’s Cross Country (1,000), Women’s Cross Country (1,000), Softball (1,000), and Women’s Volleyball (989) have set or tied a new record in their rate multi-year, which is the highest ever.

“Year after year, our student-athletes continue to raise the bar when it comes to academics,” said Director of Athletics Dr. Eric A. Wood. “The relentless effort and commitment made by our Bulldogs and Lady Techsters, as well as our coaches and successful student-athlete staff, toward academic success is reflected in these latest APR scores.”

APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each quarter, including eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation. Each sport earns an annual fee and then a multi-year fee, which is a four-year average (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 academic years) of the annual fees.
