“At a time in our world where the urge to turn inward is strong, this conference demonstrates that it is vital that we open our ears to new ideas, not close them,” Sinn Fin TD Pearse Doherty told innovators who had traveled from four continents for the prestigious event.

“Communities, no matter where they are, face common challenges, from healthcare and climate breakdown to sustainability and conservation,” he said. “Our 35 innovators demonstrated how new applications of technology in diverse areas, from artificial intelligence to biotechnology, can be harnessed to address these common challenges. These findings reveal a common thread: that the power of ideas, when nurtured, it is unlimited”.

Speaking at the conference’s opening reception on Thursday, May 11 at Crithl Distillery, Guadalajara, Mexico, Giancarlo Di Vece praised the award-winning innovators as “pioneers and visionaries.” “This event is a powerful testimony to the role of innovation in shaping our world, a role in which I personally, as CEO of Unosquare, deeply believe. We live in an age where the line between the impossible and the possible is continually redefined and this room is filled with the architects of that redefinition.”

PRIDE: Donegal TD Pearse Doherty addresses innovators gala
Di Vece, whose tech company has offices in the US, Mexico and Boliva, employs around 80 people in Belfast. “Ireland holds a special place in my heart and it is an absolute joy to be a part of all that puts this beautiful country in the spotlight. The support, talent and unwavering enthusiasm of the Irish people have been instrumental in helping me build a thriving business. Ireland’s spirit, its history of resilience and its future full of promise all contribute to an environment where innovation flourishes.”
But the head of Unosquare said there was a need to encourage more young people to choose a science education. “We need more dreamers, more doers…so we continue to inspire and nurture the next generation of technology leaders. We continue to push the boundaries of what is possible so we can create a world that is not only smarter and more efficient but also more compassionate and inclusive.”
