Google announces new ways to customize Chrome

Google has announced new customization tools on Google Chrome for desktop, making it easier to change themes, colors and settings. You can now access a side panel that houses the customization tools, allowing you to see your changes in real time.

To change your wallpaper or theme, open a new tab in Chrome and select Personalize Chrome, located in the lower right corner of your screen. Then, a sidebar full of customization options will open, and you can start experimenting with Chrome settings.

In the new side panel, you can browse background images to add to your New Tab page. Google’s wallpapers range from cityscapes and geometric shapes to wallpapers by LGBTQ and Native American artists.

And if you can’t choose just one image, you can select a collection of themes and choose the Update Daily option. With this option turned on, your new tab wallpaper plays new images from a collection daily.

Once you’ve chosen a wallpaper, you can select an accompanying theme. Themes will change the border color of your Chrome web page. You can choose from Google’s default color schemes or open a color palette and create a color gradient for your theme.

And if you don’t like your creation, you can restore the New Tab page in classic Chrome and start over.

When you customize the New Tab page in the sidebar, Google automatically saves your changes, so you don’t need to click Done or Save Changes. Previously, Google redirected you to another page to customize wallpapers and themes.
