Responsibility

This Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) role, under the overall supervision of the laboratory supervisor, manager, or director, enables the Medical Laboratory Technician to perform tests that require limited skill and responsibility, and to exercise minimal independent judgement, as expertise is demonstrated. Accuracy: Maintains acceptable accuracy during inpatient, quality assurance, proficiency and proficiency testing. Critical Thinking: Uses clinical/theoretical knowledge to analyse, investigate, interpret and report laboratory data.

Job Knowledge: Maintains current personnel training, education, and practice of policies and procedures. Productivity: Practice organizational skills for efficiency of time, material, cost, and laboratory data availability. Communication: Practice information tracking, investigation, resolution, and transfer to team members. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum education required

Associates Degree Lab Sciences Meet CLIA and State of Georgia defined qualifications for a laboratory technician.

Minimum experience required

1 year laboratory experience – preferred

Minimum licenses and certifications required

Medical Laboratory Technician (AAB) (ASCP)
