Rochester Redhawks Win Onalaska Legion Tournament – Post Bulletin

ONALASKA, Wis. With just one week left in the American Legion baseball regular season, the Rochester Redhawks are on track.

That roll is also coming at the right time.

After placing third in the Firecracker 92 tournament in Rochester just prior to July 4, the Redhawks won four games at the Onalaska Tournament over the weekend to win the championship. Rochester went 4-0 in the tournament and are now 15-7 overall.

The Redhawks play Monday again at the Albert Lea at 6:30pm

Kyle Prindle got off to a strong start by hitting a two-run home run in the first inning of the Redhawks’ 4-3 win against Onalaska in the championship game. Prindle had a great day at the plate, going 6 for 8 in two games. In the title game he was 2 for 3 with two RBI and two runs.

Onalaska recovered two in bottom of first, then Redhawks pitchers retired 12 consecutive batters.

Kasey Carlson drove in game-winning runs in the sixth inning with a two-RBI base hit.

Connor Dahl pitched five strong innings, allowing an earned run on two hits, to get the win. Prindle drove in to get a two-inning save, striking out the last two batters with an Onalaska runner on second base.

Prior to that, Hruska busted out the potential tyer at home plate.

“This was a competitive and tough game for both teams,” said Redhawks head coach Tom Senne. “Emotions were running high. Playing games like this is beneficial for our team as we approach the playoffs. It was good to win.”

Against Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau, Mason Leimbek opened up a close game at a key moment, blasting a grand slam in the top of the seventh to extend Rochester’s lead to 12-6.

Prindle also had a strong game at the plate, going 4 for 5 with a 3-pointer, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Zach Condon earned the win, while Hruska was superb in relief, going three innings and allowing one run on one hit, with two strikeouts.

“We scored early, but gave some points back,” said Redhawks head coach Tom Senne. “This has been a problem throughout the tournament, but our players have been able to weather the storm and keep winning innings. We’ve done a good job offensively.”
