11-Bit Studios Are Teasing Something Big, Bloody, And Frosty For Revelation In August 2021

Could we see a new Frostpunk game or spin-off? Or maybe something completely new?

It’s been a while since we’ve heard something new from Polish publishers and 11-bit development studios. The group’s last listed work was released on Children of Morta in 2019 and its latest developed game, Frostpunk, arrived in 2018 (although the game saw a lot of support such as the On The Edge DLC in August 2020). That said, 11 bit has been biding its time, working on something new, and apparently we’ll see what it has in store next August 2021.

11 bit studios posted a teaser for its next project in a video on its studio YouTube channel on June 10, 2021. It’s not a lengthy teaser, but it shows us enough to make some educated guesses. The teaser shows words that speak of the value of the change in progress and a decay that comes with it. Then we see a trail of blood and oil-soaked snow leading to a dude who looks more than worse for wear in the frozen tundra. The teaser concludes by sharing that a global reveal of the new 11-bit game will receive a global reveal on August 12, 2021.

Even as short as the teaser is, there’s a lot going on. Since these are 11-bit studios and Frostpunk was incredibly popular, one would immediately think that this is some kind of new game set in the same universe. It would be interesting to be sure, but oil hasn’t appeared in Frostpunk yet: coal is their primary power (not that they rule out the possibility). Furthermore, the teaser and description suggest an open conflict in this snowy territory.

“Yet the crimson scars mark the battlefield for valuable resources worth breaking alliances for,” it reads.

It would seem that there are fragmented factions and unrest at play for what 11-bit has in store for us.

Is it Frostpunk? Will he still be a city-builder? Is it a spinoff? Is it a completely new franchise? We can speculate as much as we want, but 11-bit studios will have the answer for us soon enough. Keep an eye out for August 2021 as the studio prepares to show its next big title.
