In September, Google’s Area 120 in-house incubator launched Tables as an “intuitive and easy-to-use job tracking tool”. The Tables team announced today that the service has proved a “success” and will become a “fully supported Google Cloud product” in the next year.
Last September, we launched the beta of Tables in Area 120 with the aim of demonstrating the market demand for a solution that helps teams organize and track work, and it was a success! Google Cloud is committed to investing in this area of products for the long term. Going forward, the beta version of Tables will still be available until the release of a fully supported Google Cloud product that we plan to complete in the next year.
Google announced the news today in an email to existing users, noting that there is sufficient market demand for the tool.
As a tracker, Tables can be used for: project and task management, IT operations, customer tracking and sales CRM, employees, teams and recruiting and product launch and development. It features automated action bots, customizable views, Google Chat and Slack integration, and templates that allow for import of Sheets and .CSV.
Until the release of the new product, the beta version of Tables will remain available for free, there are two tiers per user / month, but Google has never charged the “Paid Plan”. Users will need to migrate at startup.
In the short term, the Beta version of Tables will remain as is until a fully supported Google Cloud product is released, at which time we will require users to migrate. As a reminder, you can always export to Sheets from any workspace or table.
With the Google Cloud diploma, Tables becomes one of the most recent Area 120 products that have proven successful:
