WhatsApp’s multi-device support is expected to be implemented very soon in the Beta version of the application. The head of the company and even Mark Zuckerberg have officially announced that the feature is expected to be rolled out within the next couple of months. The feature has been spotted on the app but is not yet functional, not even for the beta testers of the app.
A recent screenshot of WhatsApp’s multi-device support was shared by WABetaInfo, a website that tracks beta features. The screenshot mentions that multi-device support on WhatsApp will initially work on four devices and one smartphone at the same time. This implies that the feature may initially no longer support smartphones. The other device formats will only include WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp Desktop, and Portal.

Additionally, WhatsApp has also posted some tips on the new feature. The user will not be able to send messages or call from the web, desktop or portal to users who have an outdated version of WhatsApp on their phone. The functionality may also be affected in the beta version.
Multi-device support on beta releases is expected to roll out within 2 months or slightly longer.
The other feature that has been confirmed is the “disappeared mode”. The pop-up messages feature has already been available for users to apply on different chats. With disappeared mode, users will be able to convert all chats to disappeared mode where messages will be deleted automatically after a set period of time.
WhatsApp will also launch something called “view once” messages. As the name suggests, once the function is activated, messages that have been read or viewed once will disappear. A similar feature is available on Instagram and Snapchat.
