Synology today announced the upcoming release of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 7.0 and a massive expansion of the Synology C2 platform with four new cloud services. DSM 7.0 is scheduled to be released on June 29 and focuses on improving security, system management capabilities, and improving data collaboration for Synology’s NAS and SAN product lines.

Synology is also rolling out hybrid and cloud-only products, including a new password manager, directory as a service, cloud backup, and secure file transfer solutions. The company will also begin work on opening a new data center to expand its services in the Asia Pacific region.

“Large amounts of unstructured data are constantly being generated at exponential rates,” said Philip Wong, CEO and founder of Synology. “Traditional centralized storage deployments can no longer keep up with growing demands for bandwidth and performance. Perimeter cloud products, such as Synology’s storage management line, are one of the fastest growing solutions on the market today. market because they uniquely address the challenges that modern companies encounter. “

Along with DSM 7.0, new hybrid cloud services will be launched such as Active Insight, a large-scale device diagnostics and monitoring solution, Hybrid Share, which combines the flexibility of C2 storage and synchronization capabilities with on-premise solutions, and C2 Identity , a hybrid cloud directory as a service to simplify cross-site domain management. Along with platform enhancements such as supporting volumes up to 1 PB for large businesses, DSM 7.0 also introduces security enhancements in the form of Secure SignIn, which makes two-factor access simple and intuitive.

C2 new solutions and new data center

Launched soon after, C2 Password, C2 Transfer and C2 Backup are self-contained solutions that meet modern needs for password protection, sensitive file sharing and backup of any common SaaS endpoint and cloud services.

“Four years of implementing and managing our cloud service has allowed us to integrate our experience in data management with new technologies, enabling innovative optimizations that allow us to provide a reliable yet extremely cost-competitive solution,” said Wong . “We are now looking into a path of rapid expansion into additional locations to target potential customers.”

A new data center in Taiwan is already in the works. The expansion allows the entire C2 portfolio to be closer to customers, reducing latency and improving the end user experience in a similar way to how Synology NAS and SAN solutions on premises for edge deployments are doing.

“DSM 7.0 and the new C2 expansion bring forward Synology’s new perspective on data management,” said Wong. “We will continue to push the boundaries further with tighter integration, bringing together the best of on-premise and cloud architectures.”
