BARCELONA, Spain, June 28, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Mobile World Congress NVIDIA announced today that it is partnering with Google Cloud to establish the industry’s first AI-on-5G innovation lab, which will enable network infrastructure players and AI software partners to develop, test and adopt solutions that will help accelerate the creation of smart cities, smart factories and other advanced 5G and AI applications.

The lab will provide businesses with access to the Google Clouds Anthos platform and NVIDIA accelerated computing hardware and software platforms that will enable them to leverage data and artificial intelligence to drive business performance, improve operational efficiency, and optimize security. and reliability. The companies will begin development in the second half of the year.

The global telecommunications industry is undergoing a profound transformation as the speed and low latency of 5G create unprecedented opportunities to deliver AI-on-5G at the enterprise level, said Ronnie Vasishta, senior vice president of Telecom at NVIDIA. Our partnership with Google Cloud will help network operators and infrastructure operators conceive and create new profit centers based on artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Growing AI-on-5G Ecosystem NVIDIA announced in April that it is partnering with Google Cloud, Fujitsu, Mavenir, Radisys, and Wind River to develop solutions for NVIDIA’s AI-on-5G platform. Google Cloud is extending the Anthos application platform to the network edge, enabling telecom service providers and enterprises to rapidly deliver new services and applications to the 5G edge.

Google Cloud, with our Anthos application platform, enables service providers and enterprises in many vertical markets to seamlessly connect via 5G at the edge of the network, said Shailesh Shukla, vice president and general manager for networking at Google Cloud. We were thrilled to extend our partnership with NVIDIA to provide a joint innovation lab that provides the necessary infrastructure for enterprises, communications service providers, and partners to develop, test and deploy their edge AI applications.

Anthos offers a consistent platform for application implementation, with a view focused on the services of each environment. The platform enables customers to build and deploy enterprise-grade containerized applications faster with Kubernetes managed in the cloud, on-premise and at the edge of the network.

Anthos supports NVIDIA GPU-accelerated servers, enabling a consistent deployment and operational experience across deployments, while reducing overhead and improving developer productivity. The platform also protects software applications and supply chains and provides a results-centric approach to policy management for applications across all environments, a key feature for network operators and enterprises delivering AI over 5G.

Hardware and software development NVIDIANVIDIA AI-on-5G offers enterprises, mobile network operators and cloud service providers a single converged platform for managing 5G and edge AI computing. The platform uses the NVIDIA Aerial Software Development Kit with NVIDIA BlueField-2 A100, a converged card that combines GPU and DPU, as well as the NVIDIA 5T solution for 5G. This enables the creation of high-performance 5G RAN and AI applications to manage precision manufacturing robots, self-guided vehicles, drones, wireless cameras, self-checkout corridors, and hundreds of other transformation projects.

NVIDIA Aerial SDK, in combination with the NVIDIA Metropolis AI frameworks for smart cities, NVIDIA Isaac for autonomous machines, and NVIDIA Clara for healthcare, is an integral part of the AI-on-5G ecosystem and can be deployed on a single NVIDIA Sistema certified system.

In today’s related news, NVIDIA announced that its next generation AI-on-5G Aerial A100 processing platform will incorporate 16 Arm-based CPU cores in NVIDIA BlueField-3 A100. This results in a converged, standalone card that delivers enterprise edge AI applications on cloud-native 5G vRAN with improved performance per watt and faster deployment time.

These solutions will be available for testing and validation in the AI-on-5G laboratory.

NVIDIA AI-on-5G Data Centers from Edge to Cloud Software-defined RANs are critical to building a modern 5G infrastructure capable of running a wide range of applications on a common platform. NVIDIA Aerial enables the best possible use by providing elasticity when network traffic changes throughout the day and the flexibility to offer services based on the dynamic needs of customers.

The NVIDIA EGX platform offered by OEMs through NVIDIA-Certified Systems takes AI processing capabilities to the limit, where data is created. By expanding on the platform, server manufacturers can also pair NVIDIA GPUs and DPUs to create hyperconverged edge data centers.
