The Resident Evil Netflix show asked reviewers not to mention the policy

From Oval Office meetings to black helicopters lining the Middle East, the latest Netflix adaptation of Resident Evil is full of loaded imagery, but please don’t suggest he has political views if you happen to see him again, Netflix says.

The first season of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is out now, and by all accounts it looks like a pretty decent show. But when reviewers looked at their embargo materials clarifying when reviews can go live, they noticed the unusual request from the producers of the series.

Promoting his review on Twitter, Gizmodo staff writer Charles Pulliam-Moore noted that part of the embargo included not mentioning the show’s explicitly political themes. Having received a copy of the embargo email, I can confirm that it does indeed ask reviewers not to link the “fictional” show with real-world political arguments. Capcom and Netflix both declined requests for comment.

I actually thought the Resident Evil: Infinite Dark story was one of the best entries in the franchise outside of games. But the study asks that the reviews not talk about real world events or politics at all end up casting a shadow over the entire movie for me https://t.co/IBsPzLO6tEJune 30, 2021

However, Pulliam-Moore’s review heavily covers the political situation of a show that allegedly covers the US occupation of a fictional Middle Eastern nation, Penamstan, along with more heightened government conspiracies surrounding the viral epidemics.

“What is probably very reminiscent of our reality is the larger Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness story about domestic politics, international relations and warfare,” writes Pulliam-Moore. “At a time when the world is still in the midst of a global pandemic that has left millions dead, all zombie stories strike very, very differently, but some specific geopolitical details of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness seem like comments. on time on The real world. “

It seems quite political to me. But then, I’m not writing a review, am I?
